Kelly – Coming Home (Chapter 3)

Have you read chapter 1 and chapter 2?

Kelly bounced out of the expo with a bubbly heart, an unwieldy stack of books with intriguing covers, and a mossy green scarf. She had gotten to talk to a real-life witch! She was just living her witchy life, doing her witchy stuff. In some ways it was the same stuff Kelly had been doing all along! Well, would you look at that?

Kelly savored the books, now knowing there was no one “right way” to do things. There were a myriad of ways and you listened to yourself to see what worked for you and what did not. Kelly taught herself about the holidays, elements, circle and spell casting. She followed her friend the moon more closely now with an eye to identifying the cycles. It was fun and doable. But a bit lonely, if she were honest. She got more out of the one visit with the witchy lady at the expo than all the books she had read since. She longed for a group, but those did not exist, did they?

And then in the way of things, Meetup entered her life and opened her eyes to the possibility that she was not alone. She tried a couple of groups, but they didn’t feel right. Until…

The autumnal sky was darkening into indigo, the air just this side of crisp after another baking summer. Kelly drove with the windows open, mossy green scarf dancing around her shoulders. She was nervous and almost turned around. But when the glorious Harvest Moon rose, she could not bear the thought of being inside. She pulled up to the Gate of Mystery lit by torches and smelled the campfire. She took a deep, calming breath and walked in. Ah! Here they all were. She had been waiting a lifetime and now she was home.

All my life’s a circle;
Sunrise and sundown;
Moon rolls thru the nighttime;
Til the daybreak comes around.

All my life’s a circle;
But I can’t tell you why;
Season’s spinning round again;
The years keep rollin’ by.

It seems like I’ve been here before;
I can’t remember when;
But I have this funny feeling;
That we’ll all be together again;

No straight lines make up my life;
And all my roads have bends;
There’s no clear-cut beginnings;
And so far no dead-ends.

I found you a thousand times;
I guess you done the same;
But then we lose each other;
It’s like a children’s game.

As I find you here again;
A thought runs through my mind;
Our love is like a circle;
Let’s go around one more time.

  1. Dear Sister, I can’t stop smileing after reading about your sense of awakening, excitement and place when “Kelly” drove up to the event with the window’s open to smell the presence of,,, better.
    I shared those (and other) revelatory pleasure’s and potential’s when I drove up to my first Starwoods last century in the late 80’s. The event actually cast my future as a now retired health care professional who volunteered medical assistance at the gatherings i attended.
    It’s those values that still attract me today, tomorrow and every cubic second.
    Appreciate shareing your insight’s.
    “All my life I was a Pagan and didn’t know it.” DITTO
